After years in the firearms industry as a licensed Handgun Instructor and NRA Certified CRSO (Chief Range Safety Officer), I had realized a few things. First, no one knows everything there is to know about firearms. Second, new shooters, experts, and everyone in between need assistance every now and then. Finally, not everyone who needs help is willing to ask for it. After noticing customer after customer struggling to find the answers to their problems, I began to think of ways to answer firearms related questions for those too shy, nervous, or embarrassed to ask and came up with the idea for GunsmithMD.Com!
My name is Dane Weatherstine and I am a combat veteran turned firearms instructor. I served in Iraq in 2011 as an Army Infantry M249 SAW Gunner with the First Cavalry Division. However, shortly after my return I was medically discharged because of my injuries. Home in Maryland, I quickly found myself enjoying a job at a local gun range as an RSO. This Sparked a passion for firearms, and I started learning as much as I could as fast as I could. In doing so, I Graduated from the Sonoran Desert Institute to become a certified gunsmith, I became a licensed NRA & USCCA firearms & self-defense Instructor, and have held certifications to teach the license to carry course in Washington DC, Maryland, and Texas. This is why I decided to start GunsmithMD.Com.
